Abstract

Family harmony plays an important role in an individual's mental health, especially in early adulthood which is characterized by complex emotional and social dynamics. This study aims to analyze the relationship between family harmony and mental health in early adulthood individuals, as well as to identify factors that support or inhibit both. This study used an in-depth interview method with a descriptive qualitative approach. A total of 3 early adult participants (aged 20-30 years) were selected purposively based on variations in social, economic, and family experience backgrounds. Data were analyzed thematically to identify relevant patterns and relationships between family harmony and mental health. The results showed that open communication, emotional support, and appreciation in the family contributed positively to an individual's mental health. Conversely, prolonged conflict and lack of attention in the family negatively affected psychological well-being. This study is useful for providing insight to families, counselors, and policy makers in designing interventions that support family harmony and mental health in early adulthood. These findings also provide a basis for further research in the field of family psychology and mental health.
