Abstract

Shibori batik is a fabric dyeing technique that produces unique motifs through a tying and dipping process. The word "shibori" itself comes from Japanese which means "to press" or "to squeeze", referring to the way the fabric is tied before being dipped. This study aims to examine the application of the shibori batik learning method at SMPN 2 Jetis Ponorogo as an innovative effort to increase student interest and creativity. Through participatory observation and in-depth interviews, it was found that shibori batik learning not only teaches technical skills, but also cultural values, aesthetics, and problem solving. The results of the study showed that this method is effective in increasing learning motivation, developing fine motor skills, and fostering students' self-confidence.
