Abstract

The formulation of the problem in this study is how is the process and results of students' reading learning in using the Alphabet Card media for Class I SD Inpres Cambaya, Somba Opu District, Gowa Regency? The purpose of this study was to determine the increase in early reading skills using letter card media for class I students of SD Inpres Cambaya, Somba Opu District, Gowa Regency. The type of research is classroom action research (PTK). This research was conducted in two cycles covering four meetings. The subjects of this study were 18 class I students of SD Inpres Cambaya, Somba Opu District, Gowa Regency, consisting of 8 boys and 10 girls. Data collection techniques were observation, testing (evaluation), and documentation. The data obtained were then analyzed using quantitative and qualitative descriptive analysis. The results of the study showed an increase in the early reading skills of class I students of SD Inpres Cambaya, Somba Opu District, Gowa Regency. This can be seen from the average score of initial reading in cycle I 55 and 4 students or 22.2% completed, and the average score of students' initial reading ability in cycle II increased to 82.2 and 18 students or 100% completed. In addition, observation data in each cycle showed a change in student attitudes towards positive. Based on the results of the analysis, it was concluded that the initial reading ability of grade I students of SD Inpres Cambaya, Somba Opu District, Gowa Regency can be improved through the Alphabet Card media.
