Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between the use of number block play media and the cognitive abilities of children aged 5–6 years, particularly in early mathematical development. The background of this research is based on the importance of introducing counting concepts from an early age through enjoyable and developmentally appropriate methods. This quantitative research employed a involving 35 children from Dian Harapan Kindergarten as participants. Data were collected through observation and documentation, then analyzed using the correlation test with SPSS version 23. The results show a correlation coefficient of 0.885 with a significance value of 0.000, indicating a very strong and significant relationship between block media use and early mathematical development. It can be concluded that number block play effectively enhances children’s cognitive skills, particularly in recognizing numbers, shapes, sizes, and patterns through meaningful and enjoyable play activities.
