Abstract

This study aims to develop a Fun Thinkers Book learning media based on the Case Method for the subject of Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) for grade IV of UPT SPF SD Negeri Mongisidi 3 Makassar City. The study used the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The subjects of the study were grade IV students with a total of 40 students who were divided into small and large group trials. The instruments used included expert validation sheets, teacher and student response questionnaires, and learning interest questionnaires. The results of the study showed that the process of developing the Fun Thinkers Book learning media based on the Case Method in IPAS learning produced innovative, interactive media, and according to the characteristics of elementary school students. The developed learning media met the validity aspect with the "very valid" category from the assessment of media experts and material experts. In the practicality test, the responses of teachers and students were in the "very practical" category because the media was easy to use and attracted students' attention. Meanwhile, the results of the effectiveness test showed an increase in students' interest in learning IPAS, indicated by active involvement, enthusiasm, and perseverance of students in completing case-based activities. Thus, the Fun Thinkers Book, a Case Method-based learning media, is suitable for use in science and education because it is valid, practical, and effective in increasing the learning interest of fourth-grade elementary school students.
