This study aims to examine the implementation of the Independent Curriculum in Natural Science (IPA) learning in class VII MTsN 1 Kepulauan Sula, Sula Islands, North Maluku. The research method uses a qualitative approach and a descriptive case study method. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis for eight weeks. The results of the study show a transformation of the learning paradigm that is more student-centered through a scientific approach and project-based learning, as well as contextualization of science learning with local wisdom and the natural potential of the Sula Islands. The obstacles faced include student adaptation to new methods, limited access to ICT, and the need for teacher creativity in linking materials with modern technology. This study also reveals the importance of teacher professional development through internal training and discussions, as well as the implementation of authentic and comprehensive assessments to measure students' scientific knowledge, skills, and attitudes. Collaboration between schools and local communities enriches students' learning experiences and helps overcome resource limitations. These findings provide a real picture of the practices and challenges of implementing the Independent Curriculum in the outermost islands of Indonesia, and offer recommendations for the development of educational policies and practices that are more adaptive to the local context in remote areas.
