Abstract

This study aims to improve speaking skills through role-playing methods in third-grade students of SDN No. 145 Inpres Bayowa, Takalar Regency. This type of research is a classroom action research (Class Action Research) consisting of two cycles where each cycle is carried out for four meetings. The location and time of the research is class III SDN No. 145 Inpres Bayowa, Takalar Regency. This research was conducted in the even semester of the 2022/2023 academic year. The research subjects were 25 third-grade students consisting of 13 boys and 12 girls. The research procedure includes planning, implementation of actions, observation and reflection. Data collection techniques through observation, tests, and documentation. The collected data were analyzed using quantitative and qualitative analysis. The results achieved quantitatively are: (1) In the first cycle, the average value of speaking skills of Class III students of SDN No. 145 Inpres Bayowa, Takalar Regency was 62 (2) In the second cycle, the average value of speaking skills of Class III students of SDN No. 145 Inpres Bayowa, Takalar Regency was higher, reaching 94. The mastery of speaking skills of Class III students of SDN No. 145 Inpres Bayowa, Takalar Regency also increased. In cycle I, out of 10 (40%) students achieved learning mastery, while in cycle II, 24 (96%) students achieved learning mastery and classical learning mastery was achieved. This means that learning mastery in cycle II was achieved classically because the number of students who completed it reached 80%. Based on the results of the study above, it can be concluded that the learning outcomes of speaking skills of Class III students of SDN No. 145 Inpres Bayowa, Takalar Regency through the application of the role playing method have increased.
